Ukrainians with small children (under 14) were refused entrance into Poland on their way home from Ukraine to the Netherlands.
This summer 2025 there have been multiple reports from troubled Ukranian women with their young kids travelling to and from Ukraine, but stopped at the Polish border.
The Polish border said that there was no sticker in the passports of the small kids and also no mention of them in the letter of the IND. To clarify; all the necessary papers are in order for both the mothers and the young kids. Poland unexpectedly changed their rules for the Ukranian transfers to Ukraine and back.
In many passports of the young kids there is now a NOGO stamp including a Polish form with a cross at the F regulation. In short the stamp means that the 90 day regulation was violated and entrance into Poland was denied for the child only.
This means that if you are denied entrance into one Schengencountry, you can be denied entrance to all Schengen countries. This could include returning to the Netherlands if that is your homebase as a Ukranian refugee.
At the moment (august 2025) the IND informed us that the Netherlands are talking with Poland to sort this problem. This will take some time unfortunantly. The IND cannot help in this situation and has to wait for the outcome of the talks.
We advise very strongly not to take travels abroad, within Schengen or otherwise, to minimize the risk of not being able to return to your temporary residence. What happened at the Polish border can also happen in other countries.
Should you or your child have this NOGO stamp in your passport you can check in the Schengeninformationsystem if the border has officially registered your denial for entrance. Please be aware that if your name is not registered in this SIS system it is not a free pass to travel. It may be entered later by the border officials. You can do the check in the SIS system via this link
